Athlete Update – Dahria Beatty Retires

April 19, 2023

After almost a decade of sponsorship, friendship and support, we are wishing Dahria Beatty all the best as she retires from cross country ski racing. Throughout the span of her impressive athletic career, Dahria has been in an incredible 95 World Cup starts, 2 Olympic Games, and 4 World Championships! All of us at Rancho Vignola feel very fortunate that we have been able to be a part of Dahria’s remarkable career over the years and follow along with her journey.

Dahria’s sponsorship with us started for the 2014/2015 ski season. During that first season she had 2 World Cup races, one in the Czech Republic and the other in Plancia, Slovenia. In the years following Dahria’s racing career took off, she honed her skills, becoming more established and notable in the international cross country ski community. Nine years later, we have come full circle, and Dahria’s final international race was held in Plancia, Slovenia on February 23rd.

“This final international race was full of emotions but I can’t think of a better event to end my career with. I felt gratitude for this sport and all it has given me. Love for the people it has brought into my life, and the place it has taken me. Sadness for the end of an incredible journey. Excitement for the new beginnings and opportunities that lie ahead. Appreciation for every person who has helped me along the way, making the dreams possible and the goals achievable.”

Dahria’s athletic resume is something to be in awe of. In 2009 at the age of 15 Dahria started competing in World Championships around the globe. In 2018 she went to her first Winter Olympics in Pyeong Chang. She was competing in 5 different categories and placed 13th overall in the women’s 4 x 5 kilometres relay. Four years later Dahria was competing in the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing. She competed in 6 categories, placing 12th in the women’s team sprint classic and 9th in the 4 x 5 kilometres relay improving upon her previous attempt.

“I wanted to take a moment to personally thank Rancho Vignola for their role in my career. I am eternally grateful that you chose to believe in me as an athlete and invest in my racing career. Although I am retiring from international racing, I know my role in the ski world and community is merely taking on a new form. I look forward to being involved in the sport in new roles in the future and trying to give back to the sport and community that has given me so much.”

“I will be racing one more time this season at the Sovereign2SilverStar loppet April 1st & 2nd. I did this loppet at the end of my season last year and it was an awesome atmosphere and a super fun course. This year it will be my Canadian farewell party. Many of my teammates and former teammates will be there racing so it will be a great way to say thank you to the Canadian race community. Until then, I will be taking some down time with family and friends to process this big life change and prepare for the next chapter.”

With 100’s of races under her belt and countless memories made along the way, all of us at Rancho Vignola wish Dahria all the best in this next chapter of life. Seeing Dahria spread her wings over the years and grow has been our pleasure. We look forward to seeing where she goes from here and are excited about her continued journey. With the ski season coming to a close, Dahria’s last race was held locally at Silver Star Mountain in Vernon, BC.
