Chia seeds are remarkable tiny morsels of goodness and I have found them to be a necessary part of my regular diet. Get it… regular? Well, that’s what I meant! Just make sure you drink plenty of water when you first start eating chia seeds! Once you place chia seeds in a liquid, they will continue to expand until they have taken up all the liquid there is. This can be really great for our insides, but it also can have a few side effects. Keeping those little guys moving is the key!
The list of health benefits on these “celebrity seeds” (yes!, your chia pet is made from chia seeds; we should have been eating our “pets” a long time ago!) is sooo long! I’m not going to focus on that too much. Instead, I’m going to share what I love about them and how they make me feel. I love how they thicken things when you add them to a liquid. Salad dressings, smoothies, sauces, and puddings all become thicker and have a better consistency with a touch of chia! I also feel very satiated after eating them. Because chia seeds are relatively high in protein, they leave me feeling full and satisfied.
