2 cups boiling water
2 cups bran
1 cup margarine
3 cups sugar
4 eggs
4 cups buttermilk
5 cups flour
1 tbsp salt
3 tbsp baking soda
4 cups bran flakes
1/2 cup flax seeds
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 cup sunflower seeds
1 cup walnuts or pecans
1 cup currants
1 cup raisins
1 cup cranberries
1 cup chopped dates


Add bran to boiling water and cool. Cream margarine and sugar. Add eggs and mix well. Combine flour, salt and baking soda and add to creamed mixture along with the buttermilk. Mix in the bran and bran flakes. Add the fruit, nuts and seeds. Grease muffin tins or use the paper cups to line the tins. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 – 30 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen muffins.
